MANILA, Philippines—The Cultural Center of the Philippines and Tribung Pilipino Foundation headed by Danny Dolor, presents the second performance of “Harana sa Dapit Hapon” on April 8 at the Bulwagang Nicanor Abelardo (CCP Main Theater Lobby) at 4:30 pm.

Featured artists are soprano Liza Cabahug, tenor Lemuel dela Cruz with pianist Augusto Espino for the first part of the program, and the Kabataang Gitarista for the second part.

 

The Kabataang Gitarista (KG) is a group of talented public high school students from Manila, Pasay and Parañaque who are currently being trained in classical guitar, free of charge through sponsorship grants.

 

The program, organized in August 2012 under the supervision of the CCP Artist Training Division, was organized to promote appreciation for, and interest in classical guitar performance among public high school students. Currently gaining recognition among public high schools, the Kabataang Gitarista, under the tutelage of eminent guitar pedagogue Maestro Jose Valdez, has performed at the CCP Pasinaya Open House Festivals, in selected schools and for private events.

 

Harana sa Dapit Hapon is an afternoon musicale featuring immortal kundimans, harana, balitaw, danza and unforgettable love songs by great Filipino composers. Noted classical singers and performers have been invited.

Succeeding shows of the said event will be held on June 10 with performing artists Miguel Castro, Fame Flores and Los Lipeños, followed by performances on July 8, September 9, October 7, and December 9 this year.

The event is free to the public. Senior citizens, students and the general public are cordially invited. TVJ
