Hot summer finds: From bags to sunnies

The searing summer heat might have us peeling off layers and choosing the barest minimum—sandals, a tank, tailored shorts and a cotton tote.

Instead of looking like everyone else, choose well-made pieces you can wear well beyond summer.

While Desigual is known for its colorful, psychedelic prints, it also has bags with subtler designs that are bang on trend, like this roomy tote.

It now has more leather items made in Spain, and uses materials such as raffia, neoprene, denim, jacquard textile, ethnic kilim style and traditional North African (Berber) fabrics.

A pair of stylish shades can update a look, lickety-split. In the Spring-Summer 2015 Burberry Prorsum show, fashion icon Kate Moss was photographed wearing the brand’s cat-eye acetate pair with brown gradient lenses.

The black-and-white striped shirt known as the breton is always fashionable. Tommy Hilfiger updates this classic with a rocker twist; it is finished with gold bullion trim and done in an airy silk jersey. Worn with tailored shorts, it can take you from day to night.

If you need to run around the city, a compact messenger bag is the way to go. Coccinelle’s current collection has one in a bright color block design.

If clean and spare is your cup of tea, Michael Kors’ MICHAEL Summer 2015 Collection has a white croc-embossed messenger bag that fits the bill.

Cool down with Lush and its seasonal hoard including a Fluffy Egg bath bomb.

This pink bath bomb smells like candy floss and tints bath water a soothing pink.
