With his larger-than-life persona, comedian Vice Ganda seems to enjoy the limelight. At his recent birthday party hosted by Swatch in a pop-up lounge and bar, however, things were kept small and intimate.
The menu was actually very simple—humble with a twist, as opposed to the overall design of the lounge. Designer Jerome Lorico decorated the pop-up bar using robot images and standees from the Swatch Irony XLite range.
Vice, who is often viewed as an A-lister celebrity because of his achievements and popularity, has simple preferences like arroz caldo and champorado.
Guests at the party included his close friends from show biz and fashion. Spotted were “Praybeyt Benjamin” costars Derek Ramsay and Richard Yap, the Gutierrez family, Liz and Laureen Uy, singers Jed Madela and Jason Dy, fashion designers Rajo Laurel, Charina Sarte and Lorico.
Vice’s good friend, Swatch ambassador and “It’s Showtime” cohost Anne Curtis sang “Happy Birthday” at past 12 midnight in the style of Marilyn Monroe. Raymond Gutierrez was the evening’s host.
Vice blew out the candle on a three-tiered cake decorated with photos from his old movies and shoots commemorating his career.
It was a fun event made possible with the efforts, both planned and unscripted, of Vice’s close friends.
