It’s so much easier to give when you’re having fun, n’est-ce pas, dahlings? That’s what happened at the recent Child Protection Network (CPN) 2015 benefit dinner held at the grand ballroom of Raffles and Fairmont Makati.
The event was highlighted by a performance of award-winning British vocal group Blake, whom Philippine Tatler editor in chief Anton San Diego brought in from London, palangga.
Blake’s short set had guests shouting for more; its a cappella version of “Moon River” was mesmerizing.
The fast-paced program was hosted by lawyer Katrina Legarda and businessman Johnny Velasquez.
Auction
Cardiologist Randy Francisco and the adorable Mons Romulo called out guests wearing the highest stilettos, men wearing patterned ties and couples in the longest relationship, among other “bring me’s.” Prizes included business-class round-trip tickets to Hong Kong via Philippine Airlines with accommodation at Marco Polo Gateway courtesy of CV Travel and Tours.
Apart from donations by the guests and patrons, an exciting auction gave generous souls the opportunity to further support CPN’s advocacy, helping abused children.
More than a dozen prizes were given away in unusual ways. On the block were five lots: a set of dazzling Wynn Wynn Ong objets d’art and a bracelet; three days and two nights’ stay at Amanpulo; an overnight stay at a luxury villa in Solaire Resort and Casino; a 36” x 60” acrylic-on-canvas painting by Jana Benitez titled “Amazonian”; and a week-long stay at Valfond, Provence, in France no less!
Hardworking Irene Martel Francisco, Philippine Tatler managing director and CPN president, introduced a video which included a short message from CPN’s founder, David Bradley, and his wife Katherine.
Capping the fun-filled night was fabulous live music by the Powerhouse Band that kept people dancing till they dropped to their seats around 2 a.m.
The event’s wonderful sponsors included Butch and Cris Albert of Fila Philippines, David Batchelor of Raffles and Fairmont Makati, Alice Eduardo of Sta. Elena Construction and Development Corp. They shared their insights and concerns on child abuse.
Their representatives pledged continuous support to CPN and urged all those present at the benefit dinner to join the fight against child abuse today.
