FILIPINO pop music icon Rico J. Puno is recovering after about seven hours of heart surgery at the Asian Hospital and Medical Center (AHMC) in Alabang, Muntinlupa City, according to his daughter Tosca.

Puno, 62, was transferred from Makati Medical Center to AHMC April 25 for the surgery.

The legendary performer and recording artist, who was known as one of the best exponents of original Pilipino music or OPM, was brought to the hospital after complaining of breathing difficulty while taping an episode of the ABS-CBN TV series “Home Sweetie Home” where he’s a regular cast member.
