Ayala Land breaks ground for P8-B Central Bloc

Ayala Land president and CEO Bobby Dy came to Cebu for the groundbreaking ceremonies of Central Bloc at IT Park in Salinas Drive. The 2.2-hectare site is located in what decades ago was the Cebu Lahug Airport.

Central Bloc, when completed three years from now at a cost of P8 billion, will have a mall with 500 store spaces. Part of the development includes a 12-story Seda Hotel with 214 rooms and 58 apartment suites for long-staying guests.

Dy led a group of strong-armed men with heavy shovels during the groundbreaking, among whom were Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III, Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama, Barangay Apas Chair Ramil V. Ayuman, and Ayala Land VIPs Joel Luna, Junie Jalandoni, Emilio Tumbocon, Dan Abando and Jun Bisnar, who is the president of Cebu Holdings.

There was a bevy of lovelies from Cebu Holdings and Ayala Center Cebu: Jeanette Japson, Vera Alejandria, Clavel Tongco, Bong Dy, Anne Climaco, Jia Sadol, Janra Montilla, Grace Escoto, Mabell Peñas, Mikmik Corvera and Cecil Urbina.

Oppein display center

A large crowd of prominent Cebuanos attended the grand opening of the Oppein display center at the Banilad Town Center. Welcoming all were the owners Tet and Oliver Ko, and his parents, Elizabeth and Pablo Ko Jr.

Based in China, Oppein is the largest cabinetry manufacturer in Asia. The Cebu showroom joins 3,600 others worldwide.

Oppein in Cebu is a one-stop shop not just for cabinets and doors, but also for every imaginable electrical appliance and accessory, and a wide assortment of building materials. This we learn from Kaye Sala and Cybill Gwynn, who handled the opening bash with their usual aplomb and efficiency.

It helps when fine wine just flows throughout the party. Also, Oppein has been designed as a maze with surprising things at every turn. Taking it all in was architect Tessie Javier, as well as Bernadette Borromeo Gallego, with daughter Mirella who is an architect, too.

50-story building

Jack Gaisano was there, and Vivian Gaisano, too. Soon, their 50-story Horizons building will be completed in busy Mango Avenue in front of St. Theresa’s College. Then, there’s another development at Pope John Paul II Avenue.
