Ballpen-on-special paper works pay tribute to SAF 44 in exhibit at restaurant-gallery

t0511andres-art_feat5_1“Mga Bagong Bayani sa Andres” is a special exhibition of select paintings paying tribute to the so-called Fallen SAF 44, at Andres Restaurant, ground floor, Patriarch Building, 2224 Chino Roces Ave. and Don Bosco St., Makati City.

Noradel “Adel” Ostaco, a licensed civil engineer, said her works seek to pay tribute to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Special Action Force (SAF) members who died in the line of duty last January, a tragedy that has united the nation.

Ostaco said through her paintings, she would like to show her appreciation and gratitude to the sacrifice made by the SAF 44. She added she’s particularly dedicating the works to the children of the fallen policemen.

Slated for display are 30 artworks, all 12” x 16”, in highly intense colors. What is more interesting about these art pieces is the medium used by the artist—ball pen on special paper.

Ostaco stressed that the ball pen drawings are challenging and difficult to make, since they are laborious and detailed, needing much concentration and time.   She said the practice involves the process of grid-ling, scaling and cross-hatching.

Ostaco is a member of Guhit Pinas.

Exhibit runs until June 7. Admission is free. Call 4039525 0935-8029190, 0915-6202529.
