Daiso awesome

Daiso is known the world over for being home to nifty and cute lifestyle goods that won’t break the bank. Filipino tourists in Japan or Korea with a long list of pasalubong recipients make sure to make Daiso their last stop to snap up an assortment of goodies, including licensed ones featuring Sanrio and Disney characters.

In the Philippines, Daiso, formerly known as Saizen—another brand had unofficially appropriated the “Daiso” name; the rights to the name have reverted to its official distributor, Robinsons Retail—has all the trademarks of a true Daiso store: high shelves overflowing with every imaginable merchandise at pocket-friendly (dare we say dirt cheap?) prices. Most products are priced at P88, with a few a bit higher.

There are items on promotion that go for even lower than P88, like Hello Kitty/Little Twin Stars face blotters (P44 each).

There’s something for everyone, from the overindulgent pet parent, the budding gardener, the kitchen diva, the beauty junkie, the Japanese snack hoarder, to the kawaii fanatic.

This summer, there’s a slew of beach and picnic essentials available at Daiso, like an accordion-style water jug that folds flat when empty but unfolds to hold three liters of water—perfect for camping and beach trips.

Inquirer Super invaded Daiso at Robinsons Magnolia and, though trying our best to resist, we ended up shopping when all we really wanted was to choose recommended picks for readers. But hey, at least you know our own picks were fun and awesome—we ended up buying them for ourselves.
