Fly a kite, pitch a tent, sit around a bonfire with Mt. Pinatubo in the background | Lifestyle.INQ

PITCH a tent.
PITCH a tent.

When was the last time you flew a kite, pitched a tent, went stargazing, or had a good laugh while sitting around a bonfire?

All of the above can be done on May 30-31 at the Alviera Brightscape Campfest, the first authentic camp experience offered exclusively in SandBox at Alviera in Porac, Pampanga.

SandBox, Alviera’s great outdoor play park, has scheduled a unique camping weekend experience for family and friends. Just how unique is it?

For starters, there’s the Avatar One roller-coaster zip line, the only one of its kind in the Asia that zigzags up, down and around an area. There is also the Giant Swing, the country’s tallest swing which is said to be a thrilling ride to jump-start your cardio workout for the day.

For a more physically demanding activity, there’s the five-story Adventure Tower where you can go wall climbing, rappelling, or even jump for an exhilarating free fall; and the 9-kilometer Alviera Columbia bike trail. It also offers ATV and mini-ATV rides, perfect for the whole family, with picnic zones, mini golf, courtyard and open field for outdoor sports.

For something new to learn, there’s the Aerial Walk Challenge, the camp’s high-rope adventure course. Or try the Outdoor Archery for a feel of the bow and arrow.

The Brightscape Field Day opens with Kite-Flying, basic survival skills and flow art movement. Watch an amazing show in the sky and learn how to make and fly kites from some of the pro designs featured in “Art in the Sky,” and brush up on basic camping survival skills from the pros in “Wild Necessities.”

Family and friends will have a field day learning to drink water from bamboo stalks, making a small campfire or distinguishing edibles from the foliage all over the camp.

Flow arts

Get acquainted with flow arts—the latest optical illusion craze using pois, hoops, magic wands and more. At the campfest, you get to learn the flow art of your choice and impress friends back home with your newfound skill.

At sunset, sit back and enjoy the spectacular flow art show “Ring of Fire,” followed by a shadow-puppet show exclusively written for the campfest called “Shadowtales.”

In the evening, Barbie Almalbis, Imago, Quest, The Ransom Collective, Chocolate Factory, Brisom, Absolute Play and the Adinkra Lumads will perform in a show dubbed “Brightscape Music Jam.”

Weekend campers get to pitch a tent and be treated to an exclusive Camper Field Day event, where Coleman’s camping pro team will teach you the rudiments of camping, and even serve s’mores while you’re stargazing and star-mapping.

“We are giving the public a glimpse of the future. We are mixing urban development and nature preservation, with wide open spaces amid the backdrop of the Mt. Pinatubo mountain range. Brightscape Campfest is an exclusive summer experience, a unique and great way to celebrate summer,” said John Estacio, Alviera general manager.

Guests have the option of taking a day trip or staying overnight.
