Commit to a wellness lifestyle

There are many choices open to anyone wishing to embark on a wellness lifestyle. For someone turning over a new leaf, a certain degree of commitment is necessary. More importantly, the decision to become healthier begins with exactly that—your mind committing to a stand you have taken.

So, are you ready to take a stand?

Help! At 15 years old, my cholesterol is 300. What can I do now, the natural way?

You should see your doctor immediately. But don’t panic. Cholesterol isn’t really the problem—it’s your lifestyle. Ask any cardiologist: Given the option between a slab of steak or baked fish, the recommended choice would be fish. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t eat steak from now on. It simply means that you must introduce the word “moderation” into your diet regimen and eating habits. Here are a few natural approaches:

1) More fish, less meat—this is self-explanatory.

2) Omega 3—supplement with omega 3 oils.

3) Garlic oil—a cholesterol fighter; its anti-bacterial effect also increases resistance to illness.

4) Vitamin C—an immunity booster, along with the aforementioned. Increase dosage to 3,000 mg daily.

5) Policosanol—from sugar cane; this nutrient can assist in controlling your high triglycerides.

6) Red yeast rice—taken before bedtime, this supplement assists in neutralizing cholesterol build-up.

7) The vegetarian way—consider going vegetarian for three months. If this is too extreme for you, then just add more veggies to your eating regimen.

8) Stress busters—do something, anything to manage your stress. Do you know that unmanaged stress can raise your blood pressure?

My falling hair problem has worsened. What do you suggest?

Every time I go on a diet, I have no energy. Why?

Perhaps you are on a starvation diet! It is a no-no to starve yourself. The secret to a perfect diet is eating small, regular meals every two to three hours. Put yourself on five small meals a day, the last meal at 8 p.m. This, plus no carbohydrates or sweets at night. Then do 30 minutes of exercise daily.  That’s all you need. If you are unhappy with your existing diet, then stop it. What’s the use of being miserable?

Life is meant to be lived. And this includes mealtime, in small, enjoyable doses.

How can I have smooth baby skin overnight?

It may seem like an impossibility, but it can be done!  Simply do my sugar scrub today.

Ingredients:

3 tbsp sugar (preferably coconut or muscovado)

1 tbsp virgin coconut oil

Lemon (optional), 3-5 drops

Mix well and scrub all over the body. The scrubbing motion is from the bottom up. The direction is from the outside toward  the heart. Scrub at least two times or until skin is pinkish.

This week’s affirmation: “Nothing and no one has the power to hurt me.”

Love and light!
