How to get the fierce but chic looks of Taylor Swift’s ‘Bad Blood’

Looks could kill, indeed

Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” music video is fierce in two ways: in the Quentin Tarantino-esque fighting and violence; and in the stunning, intense makeup looks that highlight not only the beauty, but also the ferocity of each of the famous leading ladies.

After suffering from a nasty, sky-high fall because of her enemy Arsyn (Selena Gomez), Catastrophe (Taylor Swift) trains with her fellow agents—utilizing knives, bazookas, and hand-to-hand combat.

Cut-Throat (Zendaya) puts a hole through a teddy bear, but her knife isn’t the only thing about her that’s on point. Cut-Throat’s winged eye makeup is sharper than her knives, and her blackish-purple lips evoke fear and awe. This look would be great on a night out at the club with friends, especially when you want to make a bold statement.

One can get Cut-Throat’s look by lining the eyes with black eyeliner, such as Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Stingray, and smudging it on the lids. Emulate her sharp wings by using an angled brush to draw a wing from the middle lid to the outer corner of the eye with red eyeshadow, like Kryolan Eye Shadow Glitter in Glitter Red. Achieve Cut-Throat’s dark lips with MAC lipstick in Cyber.

Finished with her training, Catastrophe walks through the center and is greeted by the stunningly beautiful Headmistress (Cindy Crawford). Powerful and imposing, Headmistress has smoldering eyes and a beautifully sculpted face.

Her looks can be attained by using Chanel Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow in Tissé Gabrielle.

Sculpt the cheekbones and the sides of the nose using the Smashbox Step-By-Step Contour Kit, and top it all off by using Dior Rouge Dior Lip Colour in Angelique Beige.

Since this look is fairly neutral, it can easily be matched with any outfit and can be worn anywhere, be it to a coffee meeting with your girlfriends, a romantic date with your man, or even when you’re just running errands at the mall but want to look cool.

Finally, as Catastrophe meets Arsyn for their final battle, she goes red in both her hair and her lips, and her Arabic-style eyes emphasize her bloodthirsty need for revenge.

While not for the faint of heart, the look highlights the strength of your eyes, the edginess of your lips, and the ferocity in you.

Since the makeup is so eye-catching, you could easily dress up that little black dress or those dark-wash skinny jeans and white T-shirt with it.

Wear this look when you’re feeling bold and want to break out of your comfort zone, even for just for a night. Using an angled brush, line all the way around the eye with a black gel liner, such as Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink.

Using gel eyeliners will give one more control with this eye look. Create a pointed corner at the inner corners of the eyes, and wing out the eyeliner all the way up to the ends of the brows.

Overline the lips with a red lip pencil in order to emphasize the Cupid’s bow. Makeup Forever Aqua Lip Waterproof Lipliner Pencil in Burgundy 9C is perfect for this.

Fill in the rest of the lips with red lipstick, like NARS Audacious Lipstick in Rita.

If looks could kill, these ladies definitely won’t have to resort to violence to defeat their enemies.

Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” perfectly intertwines girl power, fierce makeup looks, and viciousness behind a pretty face.
