Marco Rodriguez and Rafa Alunan: Work, family and style | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

RAFA keeps his look updated with an occasional blazer paired with khakis from Hackett.

To mark the celebration of Father’s Day, noted British brand Hackett picks out two dapper dads who talk about how they strike a  balance between their busy lives and family, and still not look dowdy. They keep that style quotient.

Passionate foodie and businessman Marco Rodriguez is a doting father and loving husband. His wife is fashion designer Rosanna Ocampo-Rodriguez.

“Family time means the world to me,” he says. “I start the day by having breakfast with Rosanna and Alejandro before going to work. I return in the evening just in time to play with my son and tuck him in bed.”

He goes for the classic and polished look—short-sleeved polo shirts and khakis for visiting construction sites and meeting with homeowners and architects.

At night he’s polished but relaxed in dress shirt and jeans, with the occasional blazer.

“I still dress the way I want to but add a few touches like a pocket square or a sharp belt for good measure,” he says. “It’s such a big help having a fashion designer for a wife. She’s helped my style evolve over the years. She sometimes makes sure Alejandro is dressed the same way I am.”

Balance

Businessman Rafa Alunan was thinking of taking his wife, the style icon and Inquirer Lifestyle columnist Amina Aranaz-Alunan, and their three kids out of town or for an intimate dinner on Father’s Day.

He uses time management to balance his workload and quality time with family.

“I work eight hours a day, sleep a good eight hours, and spend another eight hours for personal time and with my family,” he says.

During workdays, he’s in long-sleeved shirts, khakis and day-to-night slippers, with an emergency suit jacket or sports coat within reach.

He knows his style has changed, going from “Mr. Jeans-and-Sneakers” to khakis for dressier days.

He thinks it comes with age: “Now I’ve learned to wear more suit jackets.”
