Medical center introduces better way to roll back the years

With the rise of medical tourism in the country, a better alternative to roll back youthful years lost during the aging process is now within reach.

“There is definitely a growing demand for regenerative medicine here in the region and cosmetic surgery continues to be an ever-evolving industry in the Philippines,” Dr. Alfredo Callanta said during a media discussion in Makati City.

Callanta is the medical director of Empire Centre for Regenerative Medicine in Quezon City.

Regenerative medicine is an interdisciplinary field of research and clinical applications that seek to harness the body’s innate ability to regenerate.

In the Philippines, fat grafting is slowly gaining popularity.

According to Callanta, fat grafting enables patients to roll back the years by using their own fat to restore facial volume lost through aging.

Wrinkles and sagging skin are usually the results of loss in facial volume due to aging.

Callanta said that instead of “cutting off the excess skin and plastering the remainder across the smaller face,” the fat grafting restores the lost volume using fat from the patient’s body.

Fat grafting uses the fat autograft muscle injection (Fami), a nonsurgical and minimally invasive procedure, meaning the patient does not need to go under the knife and no sign of scars will be left.

Aside from facial rejuvenation, fat grafting is also used for bodily rejuvenation like breast and butt augmentation.

Breast augmentation is good for women who want a firmer and fuller bust without the use of implants.

This procedure, Callanta said, has zero chances of complications since the breasts will retain their natural feel and look.

He says the procedure is also perfect for breast cancer survivors who have undergone mastectomies.

A breast reconstruction via fat graft will enable patients to regain “what is rightfully theirs” without another invasive surgery.

Meanwhile, the butt augmentation, also known as “Brazilian Butt Lift,” also uses fat grafting.

“This procedure is more tricky as it requires the artistic eye. Beauty is all about proportion. Merely having a bigger butt may not as aesthetically appealing if it is not proportionate to the size of the waist,” Callanta said.

Callanta performs his operations at his medical center Empire, which utilizes state-of-the -art equipment and technique to deliver exceptional and lasting results.

Anna Jermaine Bombasi, director of Empire, said fat grafting procedures may cost P250,000 for each patients or higher depending on the procedures to be done.

Callanta said individuals as young as 18 years old could avail of the fat grafting services of Empire.

Callanta assures that fat grafting is safe and effective.

The Empire Center for Regenerative Medicine is located at unit Unit 8A, 3rd floor, II Terrazzo, 305 Tomas Morato cor. Scout Madriñan Streets, South Triangle, Quezon City.
