Skincare brand makes a comeback

After a five year absence in the country and the region save for Hong Kong, an imported skincare brand is back with a store-in-store set to open in two months. Origins used to be distributed exclusively by Rustan’s but will be sold in other stores as well. In fact, the store that opens in August will be located at SM Makati.
The brand which marks its 25th anniversary this year has stayed true to its aim of scouring the world for beneficial plants and harnessing the potent ingredients to create high performance natural skincare products. Their search has already brought them to our shores; coconut oil and soybean oil from the Philippines is used in some of Origins’ signature products.
“Using advanced science and earth-friendly practices, we unleash each ingredient’s unique power. The products are then purified and tested multiple times for safety and performance,” said Jean-Alexandre Havard, Origins VP International and general manager.
For the relaunch, Origins in the Philippines is targeting the millennials or those born during the early 1980s to the early 2000s. “Our products can be described as ‘entry level prestige’ products. Clients in their 20s can start with a facial cleanser priced at around P1,000. They can add to that range as they grow older and, maybe in their 30s, they can shift to the anti-aging range,” Imelda Lerma, country manager at Estee Lauder companies, told Inquirer Lifestyle.
When Origins was first launched in the country in the early 2000s, its minty Sensory Therapy Peace of Mind product won over customers for providing on the spot relief. One drop rubbed between palms and quickly inhaled was all it took.
The iconic product is still there but now, Havard said that Origins leads in three skincare categories: face masks, anti-pollution products and mini facials.
Customers can now choose from a number of multi-tasking masks that purify, clarify or rehydrate skin. There are also anti-pollution products that have become more relevant and necessary given the amount of pollution in the world today. The Origins Feel-Good Mini Facial, meanwhile, is a free treatment that helps personalize the consumer experience.
