PEN launches F. Sionil José fiction prize

The Philippine Center of International PEN (Poets and Playwrights, Essayists, Novelists) will launch the F. Sionil José Young Fictionist Prize on June 27 during the monthly general assembly of the writers group at 5 p.m.at Solidaridad Book Shop, Ermita, Manila.

 

Endowed by the children of National Artist for Literature F. Sionil José, the prize is administered by the Philippine PEN, which is launching it on the 50th anniversary of Solidaridad, which has been the home and secretariat of the center since the bookstore was established in 1965.

 

José is the founder of the Philippine PEN, which was established in 1957, and Solidaridad.

 

The F. Sionil José Young Fictionist Prize is open to all young Filipino writers, 35 years old at the most.
