The University of Santo Tomas J. Elizalde Navarro (JEN) National Workshop on Critical and Cultural Heritage Studies will be held June 29 to July 4 at Burnham Suites, Baguio City.

Now on its 7th year, the UST JEN National Workshop is the longest running criticism workshop in the country. For its 2015 edition, the workshop will have 12 fellows coming from all over the country whose papers focus on cultural heritage issues.

Panelists and speakers are: Analyn Salvador-Amores (University of the Philippines-Baguio); Rebecca T. Añonuevo (Miriam College); Nerissa S. Balce (State University of New York); Oscar V. Campomanes (Ateneo de Manila University); Fidelito Cortes (former Wallace Stegner fellow for poetry, Stanford University); Gary C. Devilles (Ateneo); Robert Diaz Jr. (Wilfrid Laurier University, Canada); Regalado Trota Jose (UST); Priscelina Patajo-Legasto (UP Diliman); Ferdinand M. Lopez (UST): Rosario Cruz-Lucero (UP Diliman);

Lucille Karen “Kay” Malilong-Isberto (National Committee on Monuments and Sites, Subcommission on Cultural Heritage of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts; Fr. Harold Rentoria, OSA, chair of the SCH and commissioner of the NCCA; John Delan Lopez Robillos (National Committee on Art Galleries, SCH-NCCA); and Macario D. Tiu (Ateneo de Davao).

The 2015 JEN National Workshop is organized by the UST Varsitarian with the SCH-NCCA and the UST Office for Grants, Endowments and Partnerships in Higher Education.

The Varsitarian, the 87-year-old official student publication of UST, has been organizing this workshop for seven years now in honor of the late National Artist for the Visual Arts and art critic J. Elizalde Navarro, who was art editor and critic-poet of the student paper during his UST days.
