16 July 2015, Philippines – With the diner’s palate getting more sophisticated by the day, it is important for culinary experts to keep innovating dishes that will interest and appeal to them all the time. Unilever Food Solutions (UFS) challenges chefs and cooks to up their game and test their culinary acumen by creating new and revolutionizing old dishes using Lady’s Choice Real Mayonnaise with the first ever “Real Chef Challenge.”
“The Real Chef Challenge is the first-of-its-kind culinary competition in the Philippines, which invites all chefs and cooks around the country to showcase their best tasting food creation innovated by the country’s #1 mayonnaise brand, Lady’s Choice Real Mayonnaise,” said Seanta Pasic-Reyes, UFS Philippines Marketing Manager. “It seeks to challenge our culinary experts to introduce their signature innovative dishes and make dining more remarkable for customers.”
Chefs and cooks across the country can send their entry recipe online from August 1, 2015 to September 30, 2015 by going to www.ufs.com/realchef, where they have a choice to submit either a Hot Signature Dish or a Salad and Sandwich Combo recipe. The top 24 finalists will be put up for voting online in October, and they will face off in November 2015, during a grand taste testing event to be attended by diners and culinary experts.
According to Chef Boy Logro, one of the Real Chef Challenge judges, he is looking for a dish that is unique, creative, and appealing to a diverse palate. “As a chef, I always try to be innovative by experimenting with old and new ingredients to come up with a new dish. Mayonnaise has always been a key ingredient for innovation because of its creamy consistency and rich flavor.” Chef Boy is a celebrity and the Executive Chef of Chef Logro’s Institute of Culinary and Kitchen Services.
Along with Chef Boy, Chef Edward Bugia, owner of Pino Kitchen Studio and Backyard MNL, and Chef Brando Santos, Senior Sous Chef of UFS, will serve as the roster of judges who will determine the best #RealChef mayo innovation dish from the Real Chef Challenge.
“Lady’s Choice Real Mayonnaise is made of real ingredients that help enhance the flavor of dishes, making them tastier,” said Joanne Limoanco-Gendrano, UFS Executive Chef. “It has proven to be the number 1 mayonnaise that Filipinos love and the choice of Filipino chefs in innovating dishes.”
Apart from the prestige of being hailed the first ever Real Chef, the winners from both recipe categories will also receive a trophy, P100,000 in cash, and TV exposure for his winning dish and his food establishment.
