My hair challenges me. It is wavy and weather-dependent. It can be flat and limp one day and frizzy the next. I can do my makeup with ease but my hair, well that’s a different story.
I think most women are like me. We have about a minimum of three different shades of lipstick that we are happy to apply depending on the event, but we do have a salon on speed dial for a blow-dry.
Since going to a salon can not only be costly and time-consuming, I’ve learned how to rely on some hair products that manage my hair situation. Here are some of my favorites.
1. Davines Oi Oil
When my hair gets dry and I have no deep conditioner in sight, I add a couple of drops of Davines Oi Oil on my conditioner and leave it on my hair for a couple of minutes before rinsing. It actually works like a hair treatment; it makes my hair soft and manageable. If in the middle the day and my hair is unruly, I spread some of this oil and it controls it, making it look like I styled it that way.
2. Phytovolume Actif Volumizing Spray
I like using this spray when my hair is too flat. I flip my hair upside down, spray some volumizing hair spray then ponytail it. It gives my hair volume from the scalp. Then I spray some on top and run my fingers through my hair for added texture. I’ve used this look in formal events and when traveling. It’s easy and it doesn’t make my hair look so stiff, which I like.
3. L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray
I make sure when I travel that I pack a small bottle with me. I like that I can apply and reapply it without buildup. So if I have to tie my hair in a tight pony or if I let it fall and want it manageable the whole day, then I spray some of this L’Oreal product on. It brushes off easily so it’s easy to use.
4. Lush Jasmine Henna Fluff Ease
I love this mask because it gives new life to my limp, dry hair. I haven’t gone to a salon for expensive treatments in a very long time even if I color my hair a lot, and I believe it is because of this product. It smells amazing, too!
5. Toni & Guy Sea Salt Texturising Spray
When I want thick beach waves, this is my go-to product. First I spray this for at least six times, then I run my fingers through my hair before making a bun. I get the blow-dryer to help dry it faster; then I remove the elastic band and I have amazing beach waves. Yes, it’s that simple.
6. Kerastase Elixir Ultime Beautifying Oil
I am absolutely obsessed with this product. It is lighter than Moroccan oil so it doesn’t weigh my hair down. In fact I liken it to how the skin feels after you apply lotion. I use it before blow-drying because it keeps my hair manageable and it makes the process faster. Also it leaves my hair shiny and soft. I also use it in the middle of the day, when I notice my hair is dry, to give it a much-needed boost.
