Women’s shoes–inspired by men’s

Tod’s creative director Alessandra Facchinetti borrowed liberally from men’s shoe closet for the Italian house’s women’s footwear collection for Fall-Winter 2015.

Key styles are composed of brogues, moccasins, penny loafers and Beatle-style boots, punctuated by saddlery details like heavy whipstitching. Even the high-heeled boots take on a sturdier feel and sport chunkier heels.

The ankle boot popularized in the 1960s by the Fab Four take on Postmodern-style geometric elements from the 1980s Italian design collective called Memphis Group. The same details can also be seen in the ready-to-wear.

Meanwhile, Tod’s unveils a new tote called Wave, which can be a chic, everyday bag with a top handle and the signature Gommino pebbles at its base. It has a detachable strap so it can be carried as a satchel.

The handle of bigger-size Wave also has little pebbles underneath so it doesn’t slip and slide off when carried on the shoulder.

It comes in calfskin, suede, python and mink. The Wave also has a clutch version.

If you liked last season’s Cape bag, this season it gets a new treatment with whip-stitched details, as well as laser-cutting.

Tod’s is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists Inc. of SSI Group, and is at Greenbelt 4, Makati.
