Make space for vitality

If Western medicine normally waits for broken systems within the body before treatment is given, then natural medicine focuses on prevention of illness as well as treating disease.

It is estimated that the human body has more than 100 trillion cells. Deep inside the nucleus of every cell, there are 46 chromosomes which carry close to 24,000 genes. It is still a big mystery how the attributes in every gene are orchestrated to form an actual offspring. But such is the fascinating truth about life! Imagine, each cell undergoes 100,000 chemical reactions per second.

The state of an entire body is largely dependent on the system of communication between the cells. Because every cell has energy, it is important to remember two things that can make or break you. To be energized, you need two things: good nutrition, and exercise or any specific movement.

This is the basis of “Energy Medicine for Women,” by Donna Eden.

Stretching, believe it or not, makes more space inside your body in order for energy to move naturally. When you allow energies to flow within through basic movements, a clearing of toxins occurs. If you go through a series of exercises daily, you can establish positive habits for better health.

Moreover, deep-seated, pent-up negative emotions that are stuck within you will be released. Thus, the feeling of stagnation or being “stuck-up” can be resolved.

“Making space” can be fun and relaxing. Try these simple moves.

Connecting heaven and earth

1. Simply rub your hands together. Afterwards, shake them off.

2. Place hands on the front of your thighs with all your fingers spread.

3. Inhale, then make a circle with your arms out to your sides.

4. When you exhale, bring the hands together and lay them on your chest, like a prayer position.

5. Inhale once more, separate the arms, while stretching arms to the side and up towards the sky, your open palm gesturing as though ready to receive the blessings from above.

6. Release your breath through your mouth while returning to the prayer position in front of your heart.

7. Repeat the long-arm open palm stretch.

8. While coming out of this pose, allow the arms to drop to the side of your body.

9. Bend over from the waist down. Knees slightly bent, bring your head down. Let go.

10. Go back to the upright position and do a backward roll of the shoulders.

Tarzan move

This is a sure-fire way to awaken the immune system and release negative energy. If you are feeling low or bombarded by the blues, a simple technique to pound the upper chest will sharpen your feelings and release blockages.

1. Feel your collarbone. About 3 in below that, place your fingers of both hands just above the thymus area (which is found slightly above the area between the cleavage).

2. Tap firmly with thumb and fingers as you breathe slowly. Inhale through the nose, exhale through the mouth.

3. You can let out a Tarzan scream if this will make you feel better.

Affirm today: “The sun is within me.”

Love and light!
