Filipino teams shine at the World Hip Hop Dance Championship

FILIPINO teams Legit Status, Romancon and A-Team wound up in the Top 3 at the recent World Hip Hop Dance Championship held at the Viejas Arena in San Diego, California.

The Philippines participated in all four divisions of the competition: junior (for dancers aged 7-12); varsity (12-17 years old); adult; and megacrew.

In the varsity division, Legit Status placed second, following team Kana-Boom from Japan. JB Star, also from Japan, came in third.

In the adult division, Romancon from the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde finished second. The Bradas from New Zealand placed first, and Kings United India came in third.

In the megacrew division, last year’s defending champs ATeam came in third after firstplacer Lock N’ Lol from South Korea and runner-up Royal Family from New Zealand. The

La Salle Dance Company and Legit Status megacrew teams made it to the final round of this division.

Representative teams from the Philippines were chosen from regional competitions
mounted nationwide.

The Top 3 teams for each category were then sent to San Diego.

Hip Hop International is also the organizer of other dance competitions such as “Randy Jackson Presents America’s Best Dance Crew,” and the USA Hip Hop Dance Championship. It is recognized in more than 100 countries.
