Wonder how Gal Gadot got in shape?

The path is paved with intense workouts and martial arts training

With the recent success of the long-awaited Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot has been the talk of the internet. The role of Amazonian princess and daughter of Hippolyta are some tough shoes to fill, and anyone familiar with Wonder Woman knows that it’s not just about looking good but having the combat skills to match.

Gadot admitted on Live with Kelly and Ryan that her training for Wonder Woman was “more intensive” than her military training. In the six months leading up to the shoots, she trained for six hours a day, consisting of two hours of gym, two hours of fight choreography, and two hours of horse riding.

One thing about her training is that she mixes up her workout. Gadot had to do a variety of martial arts training such as kickboxing, jiu-jitsu, and sword fighting. While it may seem extreme to the rest of us, she’s not unfamiliar with combat training and tells news.com.au that being a dancer for 12 years helped her in the fight scenes.

However, the hardest thing for her was horseback riding.

“But I also thought I was going to love horse riding because it always looked as if it’d be so easy,” she says. “It’s not. It was super painful and I had tons of bruises.”

Outside her training regimen though, Gadot still lives an active lifestyle. She paddle boards and does TRX when she’s not working.

Aside from her workouts, she eats healthy and drinks a gallon of water every day. While she’s not one for strict diets, Gadot is all about being aware of how much you eat with the occasional burgers and ice cream throw in. “I’m a foodie and I love to experience food, but at the same time I look at food as fuel and I want to give the best to my body,” she tells Harper’s Bazaar.

What’s even more impressive is that Gadot filmed Wonder Woman while five months pregnant. Superhero roles and intense training go hand-in-hand, and Gadot proves that any woman can keep up with their workout. She may not be born a demigoddess, but her prep work for the film surely made her pretty close.
