Beauty not wasted after all.

After two years of waiting, Parul Shah will finally shimmy on the international pageant stage. Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. has announced today at Gloria Maris, Gateway, that she will join the Miss Grand International 2015 to be held in Thailand.

Shah was crowned in 2014, with MJ Lastimosa, Kris Tiffany Janson and Yvethe Santiago, all of whom have worn the Philippine sash in international pageants and have emerged finalists.

The three-year-old pageant, a search for a woman to stand for peace and nonviolence, is set in Bangkok on Oct. 26.

Shah will leave for Thailand on Oct. 4.

Meanwhile, Ann Colis, the current Binibining Pilipinas Tourism, will represent the Philippines in Canada in the 42nd edition of Miss Globe.

The finals of the Albania-based pageant will be held Oct. 11, and Colis will fly to the Toronto venue on Sept. 20.

SHAH and Colis did not expect to represent the country in their respective international pageants but are happy to do so in October.

The two queens are Binibini’s first-ever delegates to both tilts.

The Binibining Pilipinas Tourism crown has been a contentious title, with some titleholders unable to join international pageants during their reign.

Pageant fans would say that beauties winning the title just “go to waste.”

According to Binibining Pilipinas rules, candidates who win titles cannot join the next editions.
