After the Tommy Hilfiger Group announced that international tennis star Rafael Nadal would be the global brand ambassador for Tommy Hilfiger underwear, Tommy Hilfiger Tailored, and the new fragrance TH Bold beginning in Fall 2015, the video of the underwear ad campaign has been seriously heating up the Internet.
The advertising campaign was revealed just after midnight on Aug. 25 through the brand’s social media channels, and will run globally in top print publications, TV, online and out-of-home placements, including billboards in key cities worldwide.
The striking campaign imagery and revealing video was shot in Nadal’s hometown in Mallorca, Spain.
The video shows the tennis champion undressing and provocatively pulling down his tight whites, providing a generous view of his much-vaunted gluteus muscles (read: his butt). It will be recalled that Nadal has no problem showing off his mind-blowing physique, having previously been photographed in Armani underwear.
“Rafael embodies an effortless sense of style that exemplifies and reflects our brand spirit,” said Tommy Hilfiger. “He’s confident, fun and cool.”
“I’ve always admired Tommy Hilfiger’s cool, all-American designs which are sophisticated and easy to wear,” said Nadal.
Born in 1986 in Mallorca, Nadal became the youngest athlete to complete the Grand Slam at age 24, and is the second male player in the world, after Andre Agassi, to have completed the Career Golden Slam after winning the French, Australian and US Opens, Wimbledon, and a 2008 Olympic gold medal.
To date, Nadal has won 14 Grand Slam singles titles, a record 27 ATP World Tour Masters 1000 and 15 ATP World Tour 500 tournaments.
