10 reasons we loved August

1. ‘Inside Out’
In “Inside Out,” Disney and Pixar expressed our feelings, thus helping us understand our emotions a little better. Who didn’t enjoy watching our young mind personified in colorful and eye-catching animation? (We loved particularly the unique personality of Sadness!)

2. Ariana Grande’s
The Honeymoon Tour
Live in Manila
Grande is a force to reckon with. Packed in that petite body is a superstar who can sing, dance and act. (Remember her red-haired days on Nickelodeon?) At her one-night concert in Manila, she did all her best moves and even belted out a Whitney Houston classic! Slay, girl, slay.

THE VERY popular tonkatsu

3. Maisen Japanese restaurant
Japan’s most popular tonkatsu place finally opened at Greenbelt 5 and SM Megamall. Our verdict? It’s no different from the real deal in Tokyo. Compared to other tonkatsu restos in the Metro where the food can be too greasy, Maisen has a breading formula/process that is the result of scientific research. It yields a consistency that doesn’t leave you feeling bloated.

That it’s drawing even Japanese folks is a clear indicator that this is indeed as good as it gets in Japan.

4. Adult coloring books
Admit it: one of the best things about being a kid was owning a box of crayons, grabbing one of them and coloring to your heart’s content. What if you could do it all over again?
The adult coloring book craze went full blown last month, with more and more grown-ups trying to relive their childhood and, in the process, fight stress. Go ahead, enjoy being a kid again!

5. ‘99 Days’
by Katie Cotugno
Romance could be messy and complicated, even in fiction. But in the book “99 Days,” author Katie Cotugno made sure to balance the drama with wit and humor in a realistic, if addictive, plot.
On the surface, this book seems just like another chick-lit. Read it and discover it is a novel about making mistakes—lots and lots of them—and realize that you can stand on your own again.

6. ‘Drag Me Down’
by One Direction
Despite Zayn Malik’s exit earlier this year, One Direction proved that it can, in fact, keep the ball rolling even as a foursome. Its first single, post-Zayn, topped the charts just a few hours after its release—and stayed on top for weeks.

SM Youth’s denim line

7. Denim
It’s no secret that denim is a year-round wardrobe staple. But transitioning from the humid summer to cooler rainy days calls for a bit more coverage.
From ’80s-inspired button-down skirts to classic skinny jeans, denim in all forms will forever be part of our street style.

8. L’Oreal True Match Foundation
Finding the perfect shade of foundation is like finding the proverbial needle in a haystack. Lucky for us, L’Oreal True Match Foundation has its wide range of shades that match every Filipino woman’s skin tone.

THE COMPLETE Oishi team

9. Oishi Snacktacular 2015
Given its knack for pulling surprises, Oishi did it again with Snacktacular 2015. From game booths to celebrity performances, the event gave guests an incredible time, plus their fill of Oishi goodies.

10. The start of school for college kids
While the first day of school signals the end of vacation and the beginning of sleepless nights and endless homework and reports, it also means seeing your friends, meeting new teachers, learning new things and ultimately starting with a clean slate. So, instead of dragging yourself out of bed every morning, face the new school year with excitement and good vibes!
