Marian pilgrimage covers heritage churches in Pangasinan

To celebrate the Holy Rosary month of October, Green Faith Travels organizes the “Marian Pilgrimage of Faith and Heritage”   on October 24 in three landmark churches in Pangasinan.

The pilgrimage covers visits to the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Manaoag, the Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist (or the Dagupan Cathedral), and the Parish Church of Saints Peter and Paul (also known as Calasiao Church).

Our Lady of the Rosary of Manaoag was elevated to minor basilica last February.

The Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist is the episcopal seat of the archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan, where one may obtain papal blessings and plenary indulgence.

Meanwhile, the Parish Church of Saints Peter and Paul is one of 33 colonial churches in the country declared a National Cultural Treasure by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.

Attractions in this second oldest yet well-preserved Baroque-style church include centuries-old artifacts, painted ceilings, a prized retablo behind the altar, bell tower, bricked front wall, and convent. There’s also another pilgrim destination across it: the Shrine of Señor Divino Tesoro (Divine Treasure), or the most divine image of our Lord Jesus Crucified.

A pilgrimage fee of P3,000 covers round-trip transport on air-conditioned tourist bus, breakfast, lunch, snacks, water, juice packs, a pilgrim’s kit and donation to the churches. Deadline for payment is Sept. 30.
