In yet another wave of digital revolution, leading mobile brand in the country Globe Telecom is again at the forefront of bringing the digital lifestyle right into your living room and onto the bigger screen TV.

In partnership with Google, the telco giant recently introduced Chromecast, Google’s media streaming device that will allow Globe customers to “cast” content from their mobile devices such as movies, shows, music and games to a bigger screen TV in their homes.

The home is the new territory where Globe Telecom aims to bring its connected life solutions, a suite of innovative services running on data and broadband that enrich the digital experience of Globe customers.

“Home is very important to Globe. We’ve created entertainment in the smartphone and we want to bring it to homes and make our customers enjoy a truly rich digital home experience,” said Ernest Cu, president and CEO of Globe.

“The use of mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets have transformed how people communicate, share things, and consume content. The smartphones given the power of this connectivity is changing the way we live,” Cu said.

Google Chromecast debuted in 2013 to bring a Chrome browser experience to your TV, making the dumb box into a smart Internet-connected TV in an instant.

Since its introduction, the device’s capabilities have expanded to more content and services that can be cast directly to the TV’s bigger screen.

Globe will soon offer Chromecast, a thumb-sized device that plugs into the HDMI port (high-definition multimedia interface) of the TV, to customers for free starting at Globe Home Broadband Plan 1299. Platinum Home Broadband customers can also avail of the Chromecast for free starting at Plan 3749 to Plan 9999.

“We are excited to be working closely with Google to bring the Chromecast to Filipinos who are huge fans of everything entertainment: from movies, TV shows, games, sports, to photos and videos. With Chromecast, our customers get instant access to quality entertainment experience at home as they get to see their favorite content and apps from the small screen to the big screen,” said Dan Horan, senior advisor for consumer business at Globe.

“Offering Chromecast supports our commitment to enable the Filipino digital lifestyle further as we provide our customers a platform to enjoy entertainment in the comfort of their homes.”

Along with Chromecast, Globe also announced a host of new services that can be enjoyed using device and one of them is HOOQ, an online entertainment service offering more than 10,000 foreign and local movies and TV series that can be viewed on PCs, tablets, and smartphones connected over the internet.

“HOOQ has made media consumption more personal. We’ve shifted from appointment viewing to watching at our own convenience. We can choose when we want to watch, and on which device we want to watch it on. To date, HOOQ, in partnership with Globe, has already gained 100,000++ downloads on the Google Play and Apple App Store,” shares Jane Cruz-Walker, Country Manager at HOOQ Philippines.

She adds, “But at home, TV watching is still a shared experience. The Pinoy family bonds in front of the TV, and shares the laughs, action, or drama of a great story, so we are all looking forward to the arrival of Chromecast in the country through Globe. As long as you have Chromecast, at the press of a button, you can instantly cast your favorite HOOQ show from your mobile or tablet to your TV screen.”

Chromecast forms part of the telco’s portfolio of innovative services to enrich the customer experience.

Other key innovations Globe introduced over the years that continually shaped the digital and mobile landscape in the Philippines include the introduction of the very first SMS, first prepaid plan, the first mobile e-mail through BlackBerry offering, iPhone’s entry in the country, and OTT messaging apps that further amplified Globe brand as the digital brand of choice and network of choice for smartphone users.

Cu said Globe customers can expect more innovations through more partnerships in the near future.

“Once again, we have created a new promise for a connected life for Globe and the public. And that connected life is going to further shape the future. Moving forward, we at Globe commit to continue to develop more partners, more content, and more exciting ways to use your phone and tie it to the home,” said Cu.
