Dressing the part is another matter entirely. You can deck yourself in tinsel and frosted highlights, for all the host cares. As long as you play nice with other guests and don’t make a fuss about your gluten allergy, you’re golden.

What to wear: When you’re out clubbing till the wee hours
There’s something to be said for women in tight dresses and high heels—and that something is “ouch.” Peel off that bandage dress and slip into something comfier. The beaded jacket shows you mean business, while the wide-leg trousers give you room to dance. And once the clock strikes 4, have the same roomy proportions as pajamas, so you can slip straight into a dreamless, inebriated slumber.
What to wear: When you’re at the buffet
Holidays are an excuse to binge. It’s the only season when lechon is practically on every menu. (That’s why it’s the happiest time of the year; all that roast pork does something to alter your mood.) When hitting the buffet, opt for something comfortable yet festive, like this belted kimono over a lace corset. The adjustable strap allows you to discreetly hide your lechon baby while looking distinctly, inscrutably dignified.
What to wear: When you’re celebrating with family
This ensemble is both magisterial (the high-waist trousers read as fancy, sophisticated, serious) and modest (that turtleneck is giving off some “Steve Jobs at Christmas” vibes). The last thing you need is a reason for relatives from far-flung locales to comment, “Hmmm, you really aren’t self-conscious about your thighs, are you?” (Which, honest to God, someone actually said to me.)
What to wear: To the office Christmas party
Nothing like channeling the little drummer boy to get you a shot at the office Christmas costume prize. The jacket’s smart lines lend an impression of refinement, so even if you’re busting a gut from all that beer, the jacket makes for decent camouflage.
