THE NATIONAL Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) Gallery is holding the exhibit “Angel Cacnio: Angel of Art,” featuring the senior artist’s works from the 1950s to the present.
The eighth and youngest child of Flaviano and Telespora Cacnio, Angel was born in 1931 in prewar Malabon. Even before graduating from college, his “Tatlong Sabungero” won first prize in the Shell National Students Art Competition in 1953. He graduated with a degree in Fine Arts in 1954 at the UP School of Fine Arts during the directorship of National Artist Guillermo Tolentino.
Collectors and colleagues, old and young, are awed by the artist’s mastery of both oil and watercolor. His works are brimming with Filipino values, culture, heritage, tradition, life, resilience and hope.
The show runs until Jan. 28, 2016.
