Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach officially started her reign as the most beautiful woman in the universe by doing a media tour in various shows in the United States.
In her first interview in ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Wurtzbach said that she is “excited” to officially begin her reign.
“It’s surreal. I’m so happy, I’m so excited to officially start my reign,” said Wurtzbach.
The 26-year-old beauty queen said that she has already reached out to Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez during her birthday.
Gutierrez was wrongfully crowned as Miss Universe after host Steve Harvey botched the announcement of the winner.
In a radio interview in Colombia, Gutierrez said that she was humiliated and that she had been subjected to “grave injustice.”

Wurtzbach said: “Yes, I did greet her on her birthday which also happened to be Christmas Day so I was able to ask her how she’s doing. And she seems (like she’s) ok. I understand how she feels. I am also concerned [about] her. She’s a beautiful, young lady, very talented. But she’ll have many other opportunities ahead of her. She’ll do very well, I’m sure.”

Despite being bashed on social media, Wurtzbach only had kind words to Colombian fans of the pageant.

“Well, I understand how they feel because of course, they want their bet to win so that’s completely understandable. If it happened the other way around, I’m sure Filipinos will also feel a little bit disappointed with the result,” she said.
She also did not approve of the suggestion of former Miss Universe owner Donald Trump to have co-winners due to the controversial announcement mix-up.

“I think it would be a little bit difficult for two girls to share a crown. But I have high hopes that this will open great opportunities for me and Miss Colombia,” Wurtzbach said.
Aside from discussing Harvey’s gaffe, the Filipina beauty queen also shared her excitement in championing for personal causes such as HIV awareness, relief operations in disaster-stricken areas, and cyberbullying.
In the end, Wurtzbach said that wearing the crown was a little bit heavy but “it could stay there for a long time.”
“It’s a little bit heavy, I’m not complaining. It can stay there for a long time,” the beauty queen quipped.
Wurtzbach ended the Philippines’ 42-year title drought. She is the third Filipina Miss Universe following Gloria Diaz who was crowned in 1969 and Margie Moran in 1973. AJH/IDL
