Our town’s fashion crowd gathered to witness the launch of the collections of rising designers Charina Sarte, Rosanna Ocampo, Sassa Jimenez, Maureen Disini and Vania Romoff at the Metrowear Luxe event.

Naturellement all eyes were on gorgeous women such as Heart Evangelista, Tweetie de Leon-Gonzalez, Isabelle Daza, Kiana Valenciano, Janine Gutierrez, Kelsey Merritt, Phoemela Baranda and Nicole Ortega.

Also present were Raymond Gutierrez, BJ Pascual and Tim Yap.

Metro editor in chief Sarah Meier said the idea behind Metrowear Luxe is to “celebrate female designers.”

She pointed out that “it had been a while since we celebrated a female designer, that’s why we decided to do a group show and celebrate all female designers who are really starting to crank up the pace and momentum in the fashion industry.”

She added: “We really wanted to represent all types of women in Metrowear Luxe and all the designs that were showcased by the designers represented that.”

Meier also praised young designer Rosenthal Tee, whom she said people would soon be hearing more about. Tee opened the show with her modern minimalist aesthetic.

Metrowear Luxe had its television premiere recently on ABS-CBN’s Lifestyle Network.

Metrowear Luxe is an event organized by Metro, a fashion and lifestyle magazine that aims to empower women in Philippine fashion. It is one of the titles under ABS-CBN Publishing Inc.

Newest YSL scent

Always at the forefront of fashion and beauty, Yves Saint Laurent recently unveiled its latest perfume line.

YSL Black Opium is said to be the first female fragrance to use coffee in high doses, making it evoke the tug-of-war between light and darkness.

Let me quote its product description: “The patchouli and vanilla notes serve as the dark base that harmoniously lets the femininity in with green crispy floral accords. The scent builds up to a full Oriental coffee experience that borders on ecstasy.”

Launched at the new Bank Bar in Bonifacio Global City, the event drew guests who were visibly impressed in the sensual, rebellious yet elegant appeal of art installations.

Fab custom-made cocktails were served and shisha sets were made available, inspired by the sexy aroma of Black Opium.

The DJ for the night was head-turner Ornusa Cadness, who set the mood with her emboldened beats.

Welcoming everyone was model Sambie Rodriguez who was program host.

There was a brief introduction on Yves Saint Laurent and Black Opium by L’Oreal luxury division general manager Clarisa Villaflor and YSL fragrances brand manager Karla Almazan.

Guests enjoyed the Black Opium TV commercial featuring international model Edie Campbell.

To keep the mood enigmatic and gripping, models wearing glam rock outfits by fashion designer Jerome Lorico walked in, unveiled the Black Opium bottle and opened the Black Opium room.

Guests were captivated by the room which featured a lighted mirror art installation and the riveting scent of Black Opium.

Guests included Jake Cuenca, Carla Humphries, Brent Javier, Tim Yap, Raymond Gutierrez, Kiana Valenciano, Charina Sarte, Janna Tee, Erica Abello, Kally Araneta, Sara Grace Kelly, Margo Midwinter, Natalia Ortega and Ella Pangilinan.

Black Opium Eau de Toilette is available in select SM Department Stores in 50 ml and 90 ml bottles.
