“I HAVE been misquoted and misunderstood,” said Miss India Urvashi Rautela amid criticisms from the public over her harsh statements about the Miss Universe 2015 and its organization.

In a report by ZeeNews India last December, Rautela said the competition was “biased,” adding that “a lot of diplomatic pressure” to crown Pia Wurtzbach as the Miss Universe 2015 because the next venue of the pageant is the Philippines.

In her Facebook account, Rautela issued a statement, saying she did not made any negative comments. However, there was no reference to Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach.

“Dear friends and fans I take this opportunity to clarify that I’ve been misquoted. I’ve not made any negative remark as miss universe is the most prestigious and respected pageant and I hold the miss universe organisation in very high esteem,” the statement read.

Pageant blog Missosology posted the full statement of Rautela.

“In the wake of recent developments and the instance of being misquoted, I am issuing this official statement to Missosology that I have been misquoted and misunderstood about the Miss Universe 2015,” Miss India said.

“I’ve made some great friends and had a fabulous journey in Las Vegas. I had some lovely memories from this experience. If my statements or sentiments have caused concerns to anyone directly/indirectly, the inconvenience is regretted,” she added.
