Derek Zoolander Takes Over ‘VMan’

Whoever said that models don’t work hard or that fashion isn’t a serious business needs a one-on-one conversation with Derek Zoolander, err, I mean, Ben Stiller.

The 50-year-old actor stars on the cover of the latest issue of VMan. This comes right after starting the year off as the cover of Vogue and featuring in their “73 Questions” series as the hilariously clueless but ridiculously good-looking model.

The issue features two covers, seemingly showing Ben as Derek with his signature “Blue Steel” pose in no less than a Tom Ford suit while the other cover features Ben wearing a Givenchy baseball cap while covering his face.

The accompanying interview provides a lengthy commentary on Derek and how his accompanying publicity stunts, like closing the fall 2015 Valentino show and Derek’s celeb-centric Instagram account, have managed to make an effective commentary on the current state of the fashion industry. As it pokes fun at models and the world of couture, Ben’s character has put the spotlight on how serious fashion can be. “’It’s almost necessary to take yourself seriously in fashion because that’s your stock in trade, because what you’re really saying is, ‘This is what we think is fashion, what we think is cool, what we think is the next thing.’ And if you don’t take that seriously, no one else will,” he shared in the interview.

Pretty deep stuff, we must say. Plus, we’ve got to hand it to Ben’s publicist for pulling all these appearances off. Hansel must be dying of jealousy right now.
