Blank walls in your house don’t have to stay that way if you hav e interesting things to hang.
The most common artworks seen on walls are paintings and photos.
Here’s an idea of how to hang something you bought during your travels or from a flea market, like an interesting plate, artwork, etc.
The framing need not be expensive, and if you’re pretty adept at putting things together, this project is for you.
Here we mount pieces of handmade prints, Moroccan bowls and a symbol of the hand of Fatima we found in a souk in Marrakesh.
How to:
Gather whatever you want to hang or mount. Choose items that are not too heavy.
Buy a picture frame (SM or National Book Store) that matches your choice item, preferably one with ready matting.
Materials: ¼ yard fabric for the background, scissors, glue gun, wire for hanging your plate, etc.
Measure the inner frame and cut your fabric to size. The fabric we used was natural jute.
Open the frame as if to put in a photo, and glue the jute to the inner area.
Reassemble the frame.
Put a generous amount of glue on the back of plate and set at the center, pressing down till the glue is thoroughly dry.
Once this is dry, you are ready to hang this beauty on your wall!
