What makes a modern Filipino woman? This was the question posed at a recent event, Cream Silk Transformations: Spotlight on the Modern Filipina event, held at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

“The modern Filipina has certainly come a very long way from her docile, passive and subservient identity of centuries past,” said magazine editor Myrza Sison in a keynote speech. “Throughout time, she has fought to come into her own, making gigantic strides to face challenges in history to fight for her rights. Today, she is a smart, strong-willed and independent woman who wants to be the best she can be in every aspect of her life—and more often than not, she achieves just that.”

The modern Filipina, Sison added, “has become both a spotlight and a beacon, because she shines on her own stage and also inspires others.”

The event started in the afternoon with workshops and talks courtesy of some of the country’s top fashion and lifestyle publications. Each of them offered new insights on beauty, and what makes the Filipino woman who she is today.

There were also on-the-spot makeovers and lots of freebies for the guests.

The main attraction unfolded at about 6 p.m. Right before the audience’s eyes, six live magazine cover shoots were held—the first of its kind, featuring Cream Silk endorsers Heart Evangelista, Nadine Lustre, Coleen Garcia, Julie Anne San José, Rachelle Ann Go and Yassi Pressman.

Afterwards, host Sarah Meier introduced another surprise for the night—Pia Wurtzbach, whom Cream Silk welcomed home on her first Philippine appearance after being crowned Miss Universe 2015.

She is the most inspiring transformation of the modern Filipino woman, someone who inspires the country and is determined to realize her dreams and make her positive mark in the world.

“This is the ‘happily ever after’ I have been dreaming of for a lifetime,” she told the crowd. “I’m so proud, so happy. I hope my story can become an inspiration of discipline, faith and hard work.”

The event may have ended, but the brand’s campaign to inspire Filipino women to start their own journey of transformation toward their best self has only started.
