Japanese low cost carrier adds two more routes from Manila to Tokyo and Nagoya

After launching regular flights to Osaka from Manila last year, Jetstar Japan announced through its chairman today that they are adding flights to Tokyo and Nagoya beginning next month.

At a briefing at the PTAA Travel Tour Expo being held at the SMX Convention Center in Manila on Feb. 5-7, Masaru Kataoka said that flights from Manila to Narita Airport in Tokyo and Chubu Airport in Nagoya will begin on March 15 and April 1, respectively.

“We are also adding four new weekly services from Osaka to compliment the four existing services currently provided by our sister airline, Jetstar Asia. By April 1, there will be a total of 18 weekly services from Manila to Osaka, Tokyo and Nagoya,” he said.

Seat sale

To mark the event, Jetstar Japan is offering a seat sale valid this weekend to any of the three destinations for a promo price of P1,998, one way.

“Since 2004, Jetstar has built its reputation for providing low fares and making travel more affordable. We hold true to that commitment and this is what we are bringing with us with this latest international offering,” Kataoka said in a statement.

“From the three major cities of Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya, Filipinos can explore other parts of Japan, connected by Jetstar Japan’s extensive domestic network,” he added.

Kataoka said that most of the travellers who book flights on Jetstar’s network are in their 20s and 30s but that they also get a lot of people in their 40s and 50s.

Safety is top priority

He said that safety is the low cost carrier’s top priority aside from offering the lowest fares in the market everyday.

“We are also proud of our network that allows smooth connections to other Japanese destinations,” Kataoka said.

In 2014, there were 184,000 Filipino tourist arrivals in Japan. This number increased to 230,000 in 2015. “With the new weekly services, we expect to grow this even more,” he said.

Jetstar Japan currently operates up to 100 services a day and flies to 11 domestic destinations in Japan and two international destinations. Manila is the third international destination added to Jetstar Japan’s roster after Hong Kong and Taipei in 2015.

The new services will be operated on Jetstar Japan’s 180-seat Airbus A320.
