Manila Archdiocese art contest winners on exhibit

WINNING art works and finalists of the latest Manila Archdiocesan Commission on Cultural Heritage (MACC) painting competition have been put on exhibit at the Museo ng Arkidiyosesis ng Maynila (Mana).

SECOND prize, Magpoc, Earist, “I am the Alpha and the Omega”

Student artists and their winning works on display are: Wendi T. Patoc (Eulogia Amang Rodriquez Institute of Science and Technology, or Earist), “Sama-sama sa simpleng biyaya, Diyos pa rin ang nasa gitna,” first place; Marvin B. Magpoc (Earist), “I Am the Alpha and the Omega,” second place; and Daniel J. Mendoza Jr. (Earist), “Pagpasan sa Isang Pananampalataya,” third place. Three jurors’ choice awards were given to: Marjean C.V. Samote (Imus Computer College); Lymuel A. Bautista (Parokya ni San Jose Manggagawa, Bulacan) and Gerard Francis I. Deangkinay (University of Santo Tomas).

THIRD prize, Earist, “Pagpasan sa Isang Pananampalataya”

The painting competition now on its 9th year is held annually by the Archdiocese of Manila’s commission on cultural heritage. It aims to foster and encourage among   a contemporary artistic interpretation of the Catholic faith among young artists. It also seeks to promote awareness and appreciation of religious art. For the 2015 competition, the artists were given the freedom to work on any religious theme.

The exhibition runs until Feb. 8. Mana is on the third floor of Arzobispado de Manila, 121 Arzobispo St., Intramuros, Manila.   It is open 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Friday.
