My list of top V-Day destinations

Here are my preferred dining destinations for Valentine’s Day and what I wish to try on their menu.

Goose Station. Rob Pengson of the Goose Station has a most interesting menu that includes Foie Gras Taho, a warm foie gras flan with sago, Pedro Ximenez sauce, green apple, chive and miso mushroom cappuccino. The menu is a combination of its special dishes, adding more luxurious ingredients since Valentine’s Day is the last day of service at the Goose Station… for now! Call 0917-8546673.
Cirkulo. At Cirkulo, I am assured of a well-executed meal, that has a nice homey feel to it. Savor J Gamboa’s Sopa de Ajos, classic Spanish garlic soup with 65-degree egg, croutons and crisp garlic and the Pan-Fried Foie Gras on brioche with fig compote and smoked Maldon Salt. Call 8102763.
Impressions. Cyrille Soenen named his Valentine menu at Impressions Resorts World “The Romantic Rendezvous.” This special menu was borne out of his love to create. The soup of Creamy Beef Broth, Green Pea Mousseline on Beef Tendon Puff Sauteed Bone Marrow, Beef Shreds with Chives seems most interesting and so is the Roasted Lamb Rack. Call 9088883.
71 Gramercy. Carlo Miguel has an eclectic take on Valentine’s. My choice picks are his BBQ Pork Belly House cured and smoked with homemade pear kimchi and the Butter Poached Duck Breast. Call 0917-5838981.
City of Dreams. Those who wish to make a Valentine gustatory experience should consider heading to City of Dreams.

The Tasting Room piqued my interest with dishes like Bouillon with Seared Duck Liver, Emperor Flower, Basil Water Cress, Duck Consomme and Green Peas. Another dish that reads deliciously is the 65-Degree Beef Fillet with Black Eyed Peas, Moroccan Onions, Fuji, Baby Granny Smith, Figs Juice & Diable Sauce.

Nobu: Food for the senses best describes the offerings at Nobu. For the day of hearts, it serves Local Spiny Lobster with Truffle Butter Crust and US Prime Tenderloin Beef.

Crystal Dragon is the place to be for those who want to celebrate both the Lunar New Year and Valentine’s Day. The auspicious dish Yee Sang (a raw fish salad), usually served during Chinese New Year, is available at Crystal Dragon.

Call City of Dreams at 8008080.

Cyma. Robby Goco worked his magic and created the Greek-Style Adobo-Kotopoulo Limonato. It is braised lemon oregano chicken with garlic and extra virgin olive oil, served with roasted Greek potatoes and feta. For starters he has Saganaki with Figs, fried kefalotiri with peppered fig jam and extra virgin olive oil toast. Call 7294837.

Wildflour. Head to Wildflour for a more casual dining experience. For starters try the prawn ceviche homemade chicharon, mango, avocado, cherry tomatoes, cilantro. Or the carabao’s milk ricotta, local honey, grilled sourdough, pistachio. A hearty choice for main course would be braised beef brisket, mushroom risotto, parmesan, wild mushrooms, red wine sauce.

Call Wildflour Café + Bakery in BGC at 8567600, and The Podium 5718588.

Cocina Peruviana. This is a casual restaurant that serves traditional Peruvian comfort fare. Chef Him Uy de Baron has a lengthy menu for those who wish to try something different. Call 9559975.
