IN HER work, as in her life, Lenore Lim moves between worlds. Her recent body of prints, assembled here in “Layered Life,” is the culmination of Lim’s trajectory as an artist, community leader, teacher, and mother.

Lim has worked in print since the mid-’80s, when she moved to New York after building a career as an educator and painter in Vancouver and the Philippines.

Like any successful printmaker, Lim is a tenacious scavenger. Many of her works were produced with paper collected over Lim’s travels, which span decades. Lim’s story, from early education teacher, to successful artist, to community leader, speaks to a deep reverence for the fabric of collective knowledge, as well as a commitment to extending that knowledge forward.

Just as her work looks back, Lim, in the same motion, looks forward. But perhaps most profoundly, Lim’s commitment to advancing culture extends to her leadership in the art world. An active community organizer, Lim has spearheaded numerous projects that provide opportunities for emerging artists in the Philippines and beyond. Like the printmaking studio itself, Lim is a link that connects artists across nationality, ethnicity, and time.

“Layered Life” opens Feb. 11, 6 p.m., at Altro Mondo Arte Contemporanea, 3/L, Greenbelt 5, Ayala Center, Makati City. The exhibit runs until Feb. 28.
