A running shoe for strong, sexy women

Women run for fun and fitness, and now there are new shoes designed specifically for them: Adidas Pureboost X, which lets women run strong and sexy.

The shoes were designed with Aramis tracking technology, which studies the motion and sensitivity of the female foot.

“Women’s feet are more delicate,” says Adidas brand communications manager Jen Dacasin. “Pureboost X is not as heavy-duty as men’s shoes, but it is very comfortable, as it hugs the contours of the foot, making it look sexy.”

Adidas Pureboost X is for runners with a neutral gait and natural foot arch. While it’s not for flat-footed runners or long-distance marathoners, it features a snug, sock-like upper made of breathable mesh that wraps underneath the midfoot for flexible support.

 Energy return

It features a unique Boost midsole with Boost foam capsules that provide bouncy “energy return” with every stride and act as  cushions when running on pavement. The floating arch hugs the foot from heel to toe, and the lock-down lacing system supports the foot to avoid strain.

For good traction, Adidas Pureboost X has a Stretchweb rubber outsole that adapts to the ground for stability, from touchdown to push-off, for a smoother run.

It helps that the shoes are also pretty. Adidas Pureboost X comes in colorways such as Raw Purple and Shock Red, Mineral Blue and Halo Pink floral, Black and Shock Green (P5,795), plus a stylish Stella McCartney design in navy blue and white (P8,195). To clean them, Dacasin says one can use damp cloth and water-based makeup remover for stains.

To demonstrate how woman-friendly Adidas Pureboost X is, TV host Karylle Yuzon recently led women runners in a fun run around Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. The fit and active singer says she runs often, and does spinning and circuit training.

“I run on Sundays around Ultra with my husband Yael. I also do races,” she says. Her tip to women runners: Find a running group.

“In a group, there’s always someone who gets lazy, so have several groups to run with,” she explains. “And do leg-strengthening exercises to avoid injuries.”

Adidas product manager Karlo Patron says Pureboost X can also take one from running in the park to running errands: “The shoes are made for women’s active lifestyles. They’re functional and fashionable.”
