Hit Broadway show ‘Wicked’ to return to Manila

Get ready for your “one short day” in the Emerald City!

Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, will once again defy gravity in the Philippines as the hit Broadway musical “Wicked” returns to Manila “early 2017.”

In a Facebook post, Concertus Manila, which will stage the show locally, announced that the opening date will be February 2.

“Wicked: The Untold Stories of of the Witches of Oz” is based on Gregory Maguire’s novel “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West.” It was adapted for theater by Winnie Holzman with the music and lyrics of Stephen Schwartz.

The box office hit musical features the songs “Defying Gravity,” “For Good” and “One Short Day.”

Filipino fans need not fly to New York City to see the show at Gershwin Theatre. Those interested may now register for the ticket wait list on TicketWorld website.
