You absolutely have to eat this chicken sandwich

C_2-3

It’s an explosion of textures and flavors: soft bun, crispy chicken skin, slices of pickles and slivers of red radish, juicy chicken breast and a layer of Russian dressing coming together to become what may be the best chicken sandwich we’ve ever tasted.

And we’ve eaten a lot of chicken sandwiches all these years.

“Fowl Bread is a spin-off of Bad Bird. We wanted to create a chicken sandwich using what we learned from Bad Bird and The Beef,” said Charles Paw, the man behind Hole In The Wall at Century City Mall in Makati.

But unlike Bad Bird and The Beef, you won’t find Fowl Bread at Hole In The Wall; it’s at Bonifacio High Street, near Nike and Krispy Kreme.

The chicken sandwich comes in three levels of spiciness: Safe; Spicy (our favorite); and Chemical for the really tough tongue.

You can choose to get just the sandwich (P235) or enjoy it with a side of salted fries (P280 for the combo) or garlic fries (P295), which are a must-try, too.

Still on its soft opening, Fowl Bread’s limited menu also includes potstickers and the fast favorite garlic egg noodles. You can choose to add tiger prawns to your order of garlic noodles.

Don’t forget to try the Szechuan chili oil; it works well with almost everything on the menu, especially the garlic noodles.

For dessert, there are banana donuts, which you are supposed to dip in a delicious chocolate sauce and top with whipped cream.

The drinks shouldn’t be missed, too—a nice variety, a mix of craft beers, ales and iced teas. But our top pick is the Pineapple Yakult Frozen Cocktail which is delightfully refreshing.

After just one visit, we’ve become instant Fowl Bread fans. Can’t wait to sink our teeth into one of those chicken sandwiches again.

Fowl Bread is open 10 a.m.-12 midnight Sunday-Thursday, and 11 a.m.-2 a.m. Friday-Saturday.
