CENTURY Tuna Superbods 2016 grand winners Olivia Medina and Tom Esconde

In the star-studded finals night of Century Tuna Superbods at The Palace Pool Club in Uptown Bonifacio, Taguig, Filipino-Swedish IT technician Tom Esconde and Filipino-Canadian print model Olivia Medina were declared Superbods of the Decade.

First runners-up were Clint Bondand and Ambra Gutierrez, while Chet Abella and Ali Khatibi were second runners-up.

Greg Banzon, Century Pacific Foods Inc. general manager, expressed delight at the diversity of the finalists.

“What we’re seeing tonight is a true cross-section, a convergence,” he said. “I’m happy to see finalists who are Eurasians, Filipino-Americans, and of different backgrounds and interests.”

It was a poolside affair teeming with hot-looking guests. The event was followed by a wow after-party at Revel, also at The Palace.

The Po famille were there led by Ricardo Po Sr. and wife Amelita; sons Chris and wife Nanette Medved; Leo and Marielle Santos; and Ted Po. Aside from Banzon, Century Tuna execs were there as well, such as product manager Gela Gamboa, senior product manager Noel Lazaro and brand manager Cheska Sebial.

Electrifying the ramp were the fantastic 26 finalists, both in swim- and evening-resort wear.

Thunderous applause went to Ultimate Superbods Anne Curtis and Derek Ramsay and the 2014 winners Mauro Lumba and Sarah Polverini. Current and past celebrity endorsers of Century Tuna were also present.

A friend sitting beside a businessman during the show commented, when he saw the gorgeous female candidates: “I’m separated from my wife for a year now.”

“What happened?” the businessman asked.

“Three things,” our friend said, “women, money, and both.”

It was whispered that “stage moms” were sending out their drivers and yayas to out-buy each other for Century Tuna cans that let them vote for their sons and daughters in the People’s Choice award.

So, now you know, my dear palangga, why Century Tuna suddenly ran out of stock that week in April.

Both Esconde and Medina took home fabulous prizes: P500,000 cash each and a yearlong contract as brand ambassadors of Century Tuna.

First runners-up received P250,000 each; the second runners-up, P100,000. Finalists took home P30,000 each.

Polo match

As if the summer heat was not enough, it took a wild, exhausting polo match under the scorching sun to keep the friendly ties between Brunei and the Philippines very much alive and burning.

Dockers Philippines sponsored the friendship match between the Manila Polo Club (MPC) and the royal famille of Brunei at the Enrique Zobel Field in MPC, Makati.

“Dockers Philippines is so happy to be part of an important event like this,” said Kaths Laudit, Dockers Philippines marketing head. “It’s such an honor for us to welcome the royal family of Brunei and be instrumental in strengthening the two countries’ friendship by sponsoring this friendly polo match.”

Dockers Philippines sponsored the match in connection with its 30th anniversary.

Dockers remains at the top of its game by maintaining its status as America’s favorite khaki pants all these years.

“Dockers is perfect for Manila Polo Club members because our collections are the typical laid-back, fashionable and comfortable outfits that you can easily sport,” Laudit said.

MPC and Brunei both scored great wins.

MPC, led by Iñigo Zobel, snatched the first game (6-3) of the afternoon after scoring six points against Brunei’s three points.

Princess Azemah led the Royal Family of Brunei to recover from the first-game upset so that her team finished later with five points against MPC’s three points, palangga.

Check out the events and promos that Dockers will roll out, dahlings. You’ll surely love them.
