Heaven for stationery addicts, artists and crafters

National Book Store’s first stationery and supplies fair, aptly dubbed “Happy Space,” transformed Ayala Malls’ Glorietta Activity Center into heaven on earth for stationery freaks, doodlers, artists and crafters. It made everyone giddy, their wallets lighter by the end of the three-day affair.

Participating brands had a great time showing off their DIY creativity and decorating skills—Brother’s shabby chic booth presented its latest kawaii Hello Kitty labeler (you’ll find yourself wanting to put a label even on your dog, it’s that adorable). Ifex’s paper bar had a minimalist display for its gorgeous paper and different applications in paper cutting, calligraphy and crafts (their booth smelled delicious, we wish someone would create a fragrance inspired by paper).

Varied choices

With the rising popularity of arts and crafts, we’re glad to see the constantly growing selection of art supplies made available here.

At Happy Space, we saw just how varied the choices are now compared to a few years back. The best part about being surrounded by rows and rows of stationery and supplies? Getting to try them out, of course.

There were pop-up workshops and different artsy station during the event, too.

The shoppers were impressed with live portrait sketching and watercolor painting by artists and by the painters from the International Watercolor Society (the most Instagrammed photo was a beautifully painted fish that had amazing depth and hues that it looked so real, we found ourselves craving fried tilapia with garlic rice).

Happy Space’s joyful success had fans clamoring for more. Not to worry, National Book Store plans to stage the fair annually, so we can expect more brands and products to brighten up your stash.
