Just as the waiters were serving the heavenly panna cotta, world famous tenor Andrea Bocelli arrived with wife Veronica in Caruso Ristorante Italiano in Makati City.
A hushed silence ensued as guests obeyed an earlier request made by Bocelli’s party for everyone to stay quiet.
Many however, could not resist whipping up their smartphones to take photos. A few audacious ones managed to sneak behind Bocelli for clandestine selfies.
The tenor had a hugely successful concert at the SM Mall of Asia last night. He was at Caruso early this afternoon at the invitation of the local Italian community and for the introduction of the Bocelli family wine to Manila.
Bocelli was supposed to come for brunch but came two hours late. Guests did not mind, however. Apart from Bocelli’s eponymous wine, Caruso served stuffed zucchini, insalata Russa in mayonnaise and two kinds of ravioli-the classic kind in sweet pumpkin and a darker variety with seafood in butter and sage.
