Tucked near the corner of Makati Avenue near Manila Peninsula is a small hair salon that seats only 10. Creations Salon is one of seven shops by Lourd Ramos.

His shops are inspired by his travels.

“I’d go to London and New York and find these really cool salons that had only eight chairs,” he says. “It’s such a different experience.”

With just 10 seats in the brick-lined space, Creation Salon’s intimate scale offers customers a cozy experience, less hustle and bustle of hair dryers, more low-key chatter.

“On weekends,” Ramos says, “we even serve mojitos.”

The laid-back vibe is unique to this location, which, though minutes away from Greenbelt and Glorietta and right across Ayala Triangle, seems like entirely another world.

Ramos, who designed the space, found himself charmed by the location. The salon is set away from the street, with shaded steps leading down to the front door.

Plants line the front walk and customers are invited to sit and have a drink outside while enjoying hair treatments.

His regular clients live in Urdaneta and Salcedo Village and often walk to the salon.

“Sometimes, I just get a text: ‘Lourd, are you there? I’m

coming over.’ It’s that kind of neighborhood spot,” he says.

Creations Salon  is located at 7912 Makati Ave. Makati City. Call 551-7491.

Shibori slippers

Havaianas held its 11th Make Your Own Havaianas event last week, with the theme “Honoring the brand’s history.”

Terry S.A. Inc. managing director Anne Gonzalez paid homage to the original inspiration of the slipper, the Japanese zori, those straw-soled slippers seen paired with traditional garb.

Julia Barretto, LA Aguinaldo and Enchong Dee, along with members of the media, got a sneak peek at the Japanese-themed festival, which mined Shibori tradition, the art of dying fabric in shades of indigo, for the new slippers and Japanese pins, which included a ninja, ramen and sumo wrestler.

Kendall and Lauder

Estée Lauder recently inaugurated its new space in SM Aura Premier’s growing beauty row, which now includes MAC and Bobbi Brown.

The new retail space is plastered with Kendall Jenner’s image, as the model is the latest face of the heritage label.

An interactive beauty playground places the brand firmly in the millennial-friendly category.

Highlights include three-minute beauty looks, as well as a makeover bar with consultants ready to show you the latest in brows or lips.

Due Porte

Last Tuesday, stylish girls flocked to Bonifacio Global City to attend Due Porte, the collaborative trunk show of pals Rosanna Ocampo and Marielle Santos-Po.

“We wanted a tropical summer theme,” says Marielle, “and we thought our products complemented each other.”

The Assumption alumnae put together a few brands, including Aranaz and Luxe Resort, and set up tropical-themed interiors.

Ocampo and Po presented coral-print caftans and colorful beach-ready dresses, many sourced from Positano, along with a slew of raffia accessories.

Celebs like Solenn Heusaff made an appearance, along with members of Ocampo and Po’s high school crew, like Chris Yam-Daez.
