DROP your gadgets, get out and play.
On June 11, Alviera in Pampanga will hold Go Play—a fun day of activities inspired by game shows such as “Takeshi’s Castle,” “Wipeout” and “Gladiators,” which both kids and parents can enjoy.
There will also be booths catering to toddlers, said Alviera project development manager Jomi de Guzman at the recent launch for the event.
De Guzman added that providing a safe outdoor playground is an advocacy of Alviera, a mixed-use complex in Porac, Pampanga, developed by Ayala Land.
Go Play will be held in the SandBox area, Alviera’s adventure park, 8 a.m.-10 p.m. It is organized by Breakout Philippines, the group behind hip events such as the “zombie runs” and slime festivals.
Online registration
To join Go Play, register online at www.goplay.com.ph and buy tickets with corresponding points; pay online, through bank deposit or directly at the Breakout Philippines office in Quezon City. Walk-in registration at the venue is allowed, but slots are limited.
Similar to an arcade, Go Play participants pay for a game through points.
Here are the rates and “player options”: Regular Go Player (P800 for 10 points); Extreme Go Player (P1,200 for 20 points); and Go Kids Player for children 7 years and below (P400 for 10 points).
Each “player option” can be reloaded with additional 1-15 points (P60-P500). Go Play participants also get discounted rates to other SandBox attractions such as the roller coaster zipline, giant swing, aerial walk, adventure tower free fall, wall climbing and Avatar.
And for the tito and tita who aren’t really into games but want to hang out and eat at the new dining joints in Alviera, there is no entrance fee.
Go Play activities have two categories: Regular and Extreme.
Among the regular activities are the Wacky Inflatable Challenge, an obstacle course on giant inflatables; and the Breakout Philippines Escape Room, which dares a group to get out of a trap room.
There’s Wacky Karaoke, in which one must sing a song while completing a task—which can be anything from lighting a candle to holding a snake.
For teams, group games include Sumo Relay, a race where participants wear sumo outfits; Drink Challenge, where a team transfers a beverage into a giant mug and drinks it off; and Human Foosball (life-size foosball).
Agawan Base-Zorb Edition is a spin on the traditional Filipino game, but this time, players roll around in an inflated zorb ball.
In the Gladiator game, duelists try to knock one another off a narrow platform.
Some games make use of puzzles and strategies—and blindfolds—such as the Brain Game, Communication Game and Explore the Unknown.
Others include the Caterpillar Run, Binocular Basketball, Dizzy Penalty Kick and Photo Mission.
Extreme activities include Buzzingo, a wacky bingo that will be played only three times the entire day; and Extreme Jack & Poy, which requires one to risk five tickets and win six consecutive challenges.
Likewise, as in an arcade, players will get ticket receipts for each game they play. These tickets can be traded off for souvenir items such as shirts and toys. Those who collect the most win a trip for four to Boracay.
In the evening, participants can chill at the Foam Bash pit and listen to DJs play dance hits.
De Guzman has several reminders for Go Play participants: “Register online. Go with family and friends. Wear sunscreen and stay hydrated. If it rains, games still push through, so bring a raincoat and a change of clothes, but it might be extra fun playing in the rain.”
