ON JULY 23, Scout magazine will celebrate its second birthday by throwing the Scout Summer Camp at Samsung Hall in SM Aura Premier.
You can’t find a better way to spend P350 than by having some fun and games, as well as catching some of the best local indie music artists such as Ang Bandang Shirley, Autotelic, The Ransom Collective, Jensen & the Flips, Cheats and a lot more bands and DJs.
The party that promises to be the most lit event of 2016 marks Scout’s second year of speaking as a voice of the milliennial generation. The youth, growing up in an age where all sorts of information can be accessed at their fingertips, are accustomed to digesting attention-grabbing bits and pieces. In the digital era, that’s a pretty hard thing to do.
This is where Scout magazine comes in. Being a platform for opinion, art, fashion, music, and a space for fresh talents to exhibit their own work, Scout was made for young people by young people.
From its launch in 2014, Scout has been producing content with contemporary features, experimental visuals, and relatable, coming-of-age stories. Prominent creatives, artists and musicians were regularly profiled, such as June Marieezy, Dex Fernandez and Elmo Magalona.
Last year, just like a millennial still searching for the right purpose and identity in life, Scout itched for change. Its rebranding saw the magazine become bigger and bolder, with a sleek new layout.
Headed by a new editor in chief, the magazine went from scrappy and curious to creative, outgoing and different.
The first rebranded issue, featuring Janine Gutierrez on the cover, stood for the confidence and uniqueness on which Scout prides itself.
In the past year and a half alone, celebrities like James Reid, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Alden Richards, Paulo Avelino, Ellen Adarna and Enchong Dee, just to name a few, have been graced the cover of Scout, styled and shown like no one has ever seen before.
Aside from printing the magazine bimonthly, Scout continues to cater to the curious and hungry millennial through its web counterpart Scoutmag.ph, with the latest news and features under everyone’s radar at the moment. From politics to pop culture, Scoutmag.ph provides fresh, intelligent and relevant stories that the millennial regularly craves for.
Quirky, cool and aesthetically awesome—these are but a few of the many positive feedback Scout hears from its readers on the regular. Cover personalities themselves have said that, finally, there’s a magazine that isn’t afraid to be different.
Fashion. Art. Music. Movies. Innovation. People. You can count on Scout to be the first one to tell the story. What else could you ask for?
The Scout Summer Party will be held on July 23 at Samsung Hall, SM Aura Premier, Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. Tickets are at P350.
