“Di Na Muli,” a bittersweet reflection on love and relationships, won the grand prize at the Philpop 2016 finals night held July 23 at the Kia Theater in Quezon City.
The winning song, cowritten by Wally Acolola and Jazz Nicolas, and performed by Nicolas’ band The Itchyworms, came with a P1-million cash prize.
Soc Villanueva’s entry, “Lahat,” interpreted by Jason Dy, clinched first runner-up and P500,000.
Miguel and Paolo Guico’s “Tinatangi,” sung by Bayang Barrios and Cooky Chua, was chosen second runner-up with a P250,000 prize,
Philpop, or the Philippine Popular Music Festival, is an annual songwriting competition organized by the Philpop MusicFest Foundation headed by Manny V. Pangilinan, Ryan Cayabyab and Patricia Bermudez-Hizon.
It is now on its fourth year. TVJ
