Makati Shangri-La is ready with its trademark mooncakes
Makati Shangri-La, Manila, celebrates the Mid-Autumn Festival with its popular selection of meticulously made mooncakes from Aug. 8 to Sept. 17.
The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Mooncake Festival, is a grand Chinese tradition where families share and feast on this native delicacy as a gesture of unity and love.
“Shang Palace of Makati Shangri-La is always at the forefront of celebrating the finest elements of Chinese culture and everyone looks forward to Makati Shangri-La’s authentic and premium mooncakes,” said Marco Tiraferri, executive assistant manager for food and beverage.
This year, the specialty mooncakes are packaged in intricately designed fine drawer-inspired boxes in scarlet and tangerine, and embossed in gold with Chinese-style geometric icons.
The mooncakes were especially crafted as gifts to family, friends or business associates.
“These boxes were designed and produced by Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts in Hong Kong, exclusively for the 98 Shangri-La hotels around the world. Its elegant design and high-quality materials make it a sought-after present for families and VIP clients,” said Tiraferri.
Shang Palace has been known for its superior mooncakes made of rich-flavored filling with whole salted egg yolk in the center, enveloped by a fluffy pastry skin. Chef Ben Lam, Shang Palace’s new executive Chinese chef, never fails to impress with his renditions of the classic flavors, such as White Lotus, Mixed Nuts, White Lotus with 30 percent less sugar and the new Pandan flavor.
A special early bird discount of 25 percent will be given for orders placed between Aug. 8 and 21. Bulk orders for 25 or more boxes will also get a special discount.
